Congressman Darrell Issa Is the First in Government to See James Sikes Prius Fraud

I find it strange that people not in this car have such strong comments re " James Sikes is a fraud "..I don't know one way or the other what happened, but I sold cars, both new and used from July 1971 until April 2008...Believe me when I say cars do very strange things...I have heard all kinds of happenings of strange goings on with automobiles, things that almost give you the feeling that the car is possessed....I have seen lots of problems that could never be found or duplicated...There are lots of cars trade because people lost confidence in them...So I say to J. Rodgers and Darrell Issa, I don't know if J. Sikes is a fraud, and neither do you...So Gentleman, unless you are 100% sure, some things are best left unsaid!!

Darrell Issa should be careful, he could be the next to lose his job over fraud. He has no proof that Sikes was committing fraud. There is apparently a problem with Toyota's - there have been deaths attributed to this sudden accleration, including a California Highway Patrolman and his family. This hasn't happened with any other type of vehicle. It's time for Toyota to take a good look at the design of their electronics. Period. Issa should be careful, as it sounds like he is pandering for campaign funds from Toyota. He is forgetting that he represents the interests of voters in California, not foreign companies doing businnes in California. And he is forgetting that voters have a good memory.

Give Toyota the same benefit of the doubt you are giving Sikes, a con man with a documented history. It is odd this Toyota coverage snowballed so rapidly and culminated in this balloon boy type of media hoax.
And remember, some of these "foreign" cars are built right her in the USA by Americans and maybe these are the voters Mr. Issa is representing and not the "foreign"company itself as you say.

More evidence is on it's way about the fraud Sikes. We need to get our Government out of the car business or trust me, Toyota won't be the last car company they go after. Worst part is, they're hurting Americans.

Maybe Sikes does owe nearly a million in bad debt, and have a very shady past-bests mines-, but maybe, maybe for the first time, he might been honest.

Isn't it funny that this guy's last name is Sikes, as in 'not series, joke, funny, fake.'

How can someone who made tons of money during the housing boom owe 700,000 dollars on top of other debts that are either not counted due to bankruptcy or not yet considered such as car notes and personal credit cards. I can't imagine seeing 700,000 dollars until I retire 25 years from now and, by that time, it will be equivalent to only 200,000 dollars in today's value.

His background in law enforcement helped him con a lot of people and getting away with it. I hope he get severly penalized for this. I highly doubt they'll put him in jail since CA is broke. They'll slap him with a big fine and a long probation period so they can collect more money from him.

As far as owning a Toyota, I have a 92 Corolla and it is working well. However, all these stories, fake or real, sure make me think twice about buying a Toyota made after 1998. I know I can throw it in Neutral and steer it to safety but my wife may not be able to do that because most American drivers, especially women, view cars as a material object to take them from one point to another. Most of them don't know that a Neutral is there for a reason since they never use it or know what it means. They only know PRD.
